Imagine a place on American soil where no radios, cell phones or wireless of any kind exists, not necessarily because the residents choose a quieter life, but because it's the LAW. Shared between the states of West Virginia (of all places) and Virginia is a HUGE 13,000 mile square mile swath of land, dubbed the National Radio Quiet Zone where lives the behemoth Green Bank Telescope, the reason for the silence.
