Just when you thought we were out of The Matrix, Laurence Fishburne, who played the riddle-speaking Morpheus in the Wachowski’s sci-fi franchise, reprises his role for one masterful 2014 Super Bowl ad for Kia Motors. So which will it be? The blue keys or the red keys?
The blue keys allow the perplexed couple featured in the ad to head back home in what they think is their luxury car, but the red keys will open up their minds to the official Kia K900 with Morpheus in the back seat lighting the world on fire with his operatic singing voice. We all knew he could dance — at least, that’s what Jaden Pinkett Smith’s character remarked in ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ — but singing? He’s a triple threat!
The 2014 Super Bowl Kia Ad is also loosely packed with a few more references to ‘The Matrix’ films — those pesky agents, the girl in the red dress, the bending spoon (“There Is No Spoon!!!”), and the other vehicles flying upwards as if the car is moving at the speed of a Neo doing his “Superman thing.”
The 2014 Super Bowl will kick off this Sunday, February 2, at which point you can watch all the commercials … though, we’ll have all the movie- and TV-related ones right here for you to watch at your leisure.
