From fame to the farm. Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket in the 1971 movie 'Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,' is as far away from Hollywood as anyone can get. He's now a Veterinarian in Upstate New York.

I always denied my involvement with Willy Wonka. I didn't really want to have anything to do with it

"Everybody could be so lucky to have an experience like this and then to go in a completely different direction," Ostrum said on the Today show when the original cast reunited 44 years later.

Although Ostrum appreciated the fame when he was just 12 years-old, he didn't admit to being Charlie Bucket. "After the film, I always denied my involvement with Willy Wonka. I didn't really want to have anything to do with it," he tells the Huffington Post.

Ostrum wanted to have everything to do with farms and animals. He's now a vet at Countryside Veterinary Clinic in Lowville where he works on small and large dairy farms.

"For me, veterinary medicine is a really nice mix between using your head, using your brain, problem-solving, but at the same time, there's a physical aspect of the work that I enjoy. I won't get fat doing this job! You're always on the go and each day is a little bit different."

Instead of casting calls, Ostrum now makes house calls, or should we say barn calls.
