Even though most people may have vacation this week, our friends in Hollywood do not. It’s been a pretty busy week with pretty big stories and it just keeps getting better.

Tom Cruise has gone from mega 80s superstar to couch-jumping nutball over the course of his career. With his off-screen demeanor calming down a bit, he’s revived his career (see: ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’) and he’s back on top of the Hollywood mountain, especially with his upcoming role in ‘Rock of Ages.’ But has his career resurgence made him go a bit bananas again?

It seems that Paramount feels the need… The need for speed. (Come on, like we weren’t going there.) In a recent interview president Adam Goodman gave up the goods on several new projects, including the long-gestating ‘Top Gun‘ sequel.

With the NFL playoffs heading to the championship round this weekend, players on the teams that remain alive have the opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage. Sports agents are undoubtedly recording every pass, run, catch and tackle to build the cases for their clients to receive a bigger payday in the coming offseason.

This was no movie stunt. Tom Cruise got to test drive a race car at a track in California this week, where the actor did 24 laps in the Red Bull F1 car. Former driver and 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard instructed the ‘Days of Thunder’ star before he let Cruise take hold of the wheel of the 850-horsepower car, reaching speeds of 181 mph.

When we think of "Top Gun", who doesn't think of Tom Cruise?  Not necessarily his best movie ever, but certainly one of the most memorable.  You start to feel really old when one of your favorite movies from your teenage years is suddenly celebrating a 25th anniversary.
