Over the past few years, Joaquin Phoenix has flirted with multiple big-budget superhero movies. He was offered roles in The Avengers (as Bruce Banner/Hulk), Batman vs. Superman and Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and come very close to signing a deal (Marvel was hoping up until the very last moment to be able to introduce Phoenix as Strange at Comic-Con in 2014) before eventually opting to pass on all three. But, why? The actor opened up about his decision making process admitting that it’s probably best if he doesn’t ever star in a superhero movie.

Earlier this month we brought you confirmation on the two sides in Captain America: Civil War. On Team Captain America we had Hawkeye, Falcon, Bucky/Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Scarlet Witch, while on Team Iron Man there was Vision, Black Widow, War Machine and Spider-Man. Today, we have some brand new Captain America: Civil War promo art that confirms those warring factions of Marvel superheroes with some interesting new twists!

Here’s the thing about this Fantastic Four movie: it was supposed to be horrible. This movie has been riding an almost unprecedented level of bad buzz since earlier this year. Strangely, it seems to have started over literally nothing. Fans were upset they hadn’t seen anything official from the movie and began to suspect it stunk. Then, depending on who you talk to, the director was fired, the actors were upset and the script was a mess. But, the days of speculation are over and none of that bad buzz matters any more; there’s an actual film that can be judged on its own merits. Sadly, Fantastic Four, on its own merits, is still horrible.

When the massive Captain America: Civil War cast list was released there was one big, green name missing: Hulk. While Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, War Machine, Vision, Ant-Man and even Spider-Man are joining Captain America for his next film, Bruce Banner was apparently looking to sit this film out. Or, is he? A new report suggests that Mark Ruffalo was spotted on set in Berlin shooting new scenes for the movie with Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie and Daniel Brühl.

As Ant-Man opens in theaters, we’re once again reminded to keep our big superhero-loving butts in our seats throughout the duration of any comic-book movie’s closing credits. (For Ant-Man specifically, you’re going to want to stay all the way to the very end, for an extra post-credits scene.) It’s become a superhero movie staple to have a scene tacked on to the end of the film that either teases an upcoming sequel or spinoff, pays off an unresolved storyline, or just sprinkles on one last dash of humor. We’ve gone through all the superhero post-credits scenes that have ever made their way to the big screen to rank them.

Did you know that Marvel has been working on an Ant-Man movie since the late-1980s? Stan Lee originally pitched the concept to New World Entertainment (then Marvel’s parent company), but they turned the idea down because Disney had just released Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Marvel’s Ant-Man opens in theaters today and to this point we’ve seen no shortage of trailers, clips and TV spots showing off all kinds of footage. But, on the last stop on his promotional tour for the movie, Paul Rudd stopped by to visit Conan O’Brien and brought something extra special.

Via a press release at Marvel.com, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced that they’ve found their next Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It’s Tom Holland, the 19-year-old British actor best known as one of the stars of The Impossible. The studios also announced they’ve chosen a director to make the next Spider-Man movie, and it’s a surprising choice: Jon Watts, the director of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival selection Cop Car.

Just a few days ago, box office analysts were predicting a $125 million opening weekend for Jurassic World. Defying all expectations, Jurassic World brought in a whopping $209 million making it the biggest opening weekend of all-time, beating the previous record holder, The Avengers. The team at Marvel took it all in stride, releasing this poster on Twitter congratulating the Jurassic World crew on their achievement.

By now, everyone is familiar with the interconnectedness of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how every film references what came before and what’s arriving next. So it makes sense that Ant-Man, the riskiest Marvel endeavor yet, will supposedly be filled with references to one of Marvel Studios’ surest things: the new Spider-Man. We guess the bug-themed superheroes have to stick together, huh?

Acquiring Lucasfilm and Marvel were just two minor steps in Disney’s grand plan to eventually own everything you love and control your life as Entertainment Overlord Supreme of the Planet Earth. But to be fair, they are a benevolent god. A caring god. A god that wants to make its riches available to you, should you want to indulge yourself. So prepare thyself: TV channels based entire on Marvel and Star Wars content may be coming.
