Maybe you've enjoyed the weather lately in Upstate New York. Someone, or something, that isn't enjoying the weather is fisherman. Due to the recent droughts in Upstate, trout fishing is suffering this season.
If it says "free", then I'm all for it. Although, I did buy a fishing license for the first time in some years. But I think this is a great idea if you only fish occasionally, or maybe you're trying fishing for the first time.
Catch a really big fish? You might have a new state record. Did you know the biggest Largemouth Bass NYS record holder is 25.5 inches long, weighed in at 11 lbs 4 oz, and was caught with a spinnerbait at Buckhorn Lake in Otsego County back in 1987?
While you may have celebrated the mild winter we received here in Central New York, if you're a fisherman, you'll celebrate even more. Thanks to the mild winter, many streams are being stocked early with trout before April 1st.
