While Boilermaker 2014 is now in the record books, for those of you who didn't make it  to the race route, we have some sights, sounds and memories to share. Our morning man Keith James and myself were at the corner of Kellogg Ave. and Whitesboro Street in West Utica on the day of the race, about a mile from the finish line.

On Boilermaker Sunday, our 96.1 WODZ morning man Keith James and I set up the station van at the corner of Kellogg Ave. and Whitesboro Street around 6:00 a.m. to get ready for the runners. At our location, the finish line was about a mile away, so we made sure we pumped out some running music and cheered on the runners in that last leg of the race.

Myself and Greg McShea brought the Oldiez van to Southside Auto with a kicking sound system to pump music straight down Whitesboro St. as the 14,000+ runners were negotiating the inclining final mile of the 2014 Boilermaker.

I go back a bit in central New York radio and remember broadcasting the first Boilermaker Road Race in 1978. Things were quite modest then, with a little over 800 runners entered, and a few media people covering it live.

I would normally do the music interviews on the station, but my relief Davey Jones got a crack at it during my midweek hiatus. We've hosted Terrence Thornton before and he can never say enough about his bros in his band that he calls Prime Seven

Robert Channing has been doing great on America's Got Talent and Greeley Ford and fellow Classified company are making a comeback on the Stanely stage for this year's Boilermaker, but get this... It was just announced that the two of them are actually going to be onstage TOGETHER

Registration for the 2014 Utica Boilermaker Road Race may be full, but registration is still open for the 3 Mile Boilermaker Walk that takes place on Saturday July 12th!

The race to the register is now officially over.  The Boilermaker Road Race for 2014 is almost sold out - in record time - just over two hours.

What would make you run faster in a race? Hornets you ask? Well if you plan on running any road races in North Yorkshire watch out for them. This attack all took place on the Spofforth 10k trail race.
