There's bad news for men like you and me who love soda. A new study suggests that men who drink soda or other drinks filled with sugar greatly increase their risk of suffering a heart attack.

This study included 50,000 men who tracked their diet over the course of 22 years. Men who drank just one 12-ounce sugar-sweetened soda had a 20 percent higher risk of heart attack. Just one drink can do that. Dr. Walter Willett, a co-author of the study, says that a 12-ounce soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar. He adds:

"Continually subjecting our bodies to high amounts of glucose, to high blood sugar levels that trigger large secretions of insulin results in stresses that in the long run show up as high risk of heart disease and diabetes."

I'm pretty guilty of a bad soda habit. Are you? Do you drink a lot of soda?
