Stevie Nicks is crediting former First Lady, Betty Ford, with saving her life. The Fleetwood Mac singer entered the Betty Ford Center for treatment in 1985 for cocaine addiction. Nicks said Ford was very active at the Center:

"In those days, she would actually come to speak at Betty Ford two or three times a month, so I got to hear her tell the whole story on just the pressure of being in politics, being married to a famous politician and getting addicted to whatever it was she was addicted to." - RTTNews.com

Nicks added that it was Ford's story and encourgement that pushed her to better herself:

"That really, really made my need to actually fix myself even stronger because when you see somebody that's done it, and you're not nearly as famous as she is, no matter what, it changes you. As far as I'm concerned, Betty Ford saved my life." - RTTNews.com
