No child should ever have to deal with a serious illness. When they are faced with these challenges any amount of support is greatly appreciated and helps in a big way. Dawn O'Connor is a 15-year-old South Lewis sophmore who has started her own charity to help children battling disease.

Her idea stemmed from a Facebook page she was following titled, "Caleb Kicks Cancer." This little boy's story inspired her to start a program called "Helping Little Heroes" and according to WKTV,

Dawn started ‘Helping Little Heroes’, and so far she's sent out more than 500 cards and 15 care packages around the world. They’re specially made for each kid with what they like and their favorite colors but they remind the family and the child to stay strong and that someone is praying for them and thinking of them.

At only 15-years-old if she has a heart this big, who knows what kind of charitable works she will continue to be a part of. It's young people like Dawn that restore your faith in humanity and our future. Well done Dawn! Keep up the good work. To support Dawn's charity you can visit the "Helping Little Heroes" Facebook page.
