Wegmans announced Thursday that some of its locations including two in the Syracuse area and three near Buffalo will no longer be open 24-7.

In Syracuse, the Wegmans at 4722 Onondaga Blvd near Western lights and 4256 James Street  in East Syracuse will close from Midnight to 6 AM starting March 4th

Bottom line there are just too few employees and too few customers overnight, and it makes sense to operate more efficiently during the overnight hours. The Buffalo News reports the Rochester-based retailer will also end its overnight hours at 1577 Military Road in Niagara Falls, 675 Alberta  Drive in Amherst, and 601 Amherst St. near Elmwood Avenue.

Wegmans spokesperson said this will allow us to better align our employee resources with the times when the vast majority of our customers are shopping in those stores.

Wegmans spokesperson said that its possible other stores still staying open 24-7 could cut its hours in the future, but Wegmans has no plans for changes at other locations.
