There are those of us who love the winters here in central New York and then there are those of us who are like, enough already!  We’ve seen a lot of snow for February, and we’re only halfway through the month.  I blame the groundhog.

Late last year, we saw the pictures of the crazy amount of snow that fell on Buffalo.  The past couple of weeks, we’ve seen the huge amount of snow that has hit the northeast.  All said and done, I would consider ourselves extremely lucky, comparatively.

But check this out…

A couple living in Montana (that’s right, more people live there other than the Unabomber), have been isolated in a wintry wonderland that is so remote, the only way anyone would be able to get to them, would be if they commandeered a snowplow themselves.

When I read the story, my first thought was of the recent commercial for Little Caesar’s pizza, where the dad of a family of four is outraged at how much information pizza places are asking for, so he decides to go “off the grid”.

These folks are certainly off the grid…to a point.

They have recently become an internet sensation and you can actually keep up with what they are doing through their online blog, A Winter at Many Glacier.

Surprisingly, the blog is getting around  500 to 600 views per day, and has seen as many as 2300 in one day.  Amazing.

The couple have been hanging out the Many Glacier hotel, which is primarily a seasonal place which does quite well during the non-snow months.  But, the place needs care during the off months, so the couple are living there during the wintry months.

Wait a minute, does this sound familiar to you?  Didn’t Stephen King write a book about this exact same scenario some years ago?  Oh yeah, it was called THE SHINING!!!

Well, so far, no axes through doors and twin girls roaming the hallways.  Maybe the adventure is nothing more than a true test of love, huh?  The divorce lawyers are waiting in the wings.
