Slide the City Water Slide Cancelled in Syracuse

You won't be sliding the city of Syracuse after all. The giant water slide that was originally planned to come August 1st has been cancelled.

The company was waiting to get permits approved before putting tickets on sale. Monday a Facebook alert was sent out, cancelling the event, but no reason was given.

This isn't the first event called off. Slide the City cancelled in Scranton, Pennsylvania earlier this month. There were also problems after the Slide the City event in Pittsburg. Many people complained of the disorganization on Facebook, demanding a refund:

"Slide the City Pittsburgh owes the people who attended Saturday June 6 and purchased a triple or VIP pass their money back!! This was the biggest ripoff ever and I cannot believe how disorganized it was! Anyone saying it WAS organized is delusional! As 90% of the other people posting here have said, I came at 11:15, waited 2.5 hours, slid once, and the line was then 3+ hours to ride again. Line cutting out of control, they had "volunteers" who couldn't have been older than 13 standing on the slide, getting in the way, throwing lost shoes to the bottom and hitting people in the head. Get your act together before hosting an event like this! I will also be contacting the BBB."

"WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. Despite arriving early, there was a 45 minute wait to fill our inner tubes (with some sort of dumb $2 per tube fee). We waited in line for nearly 3 1/2 hours for ONE ride."

"Thought this would be a fun, different event for my family. Waited in line almost 3 hours to go down once. We paid for 3. No organization or oversight beyond check-in. Very poorly run. Not to even mention the number of ADULTS cutting in line. Guess that's what you can expect when there is no one managing the event."

Tickets are now available for the Insane Inflatable 5K in Lafayette September 26th. Sign up for a waves time or get an 'All Access Pass,' giving you the opportunity to run in any wave, even if it's sold out. Team registration is also available and encouraged, so get your friends, co-workers, and family to join you. You can even wear matching outfits or go crazy and come dressed in costume.
