'Sherlock' season 3 has been more and more generous in unveiling its mysteries as we approach the January 1 premiere (in the UK at least), but beyond the latest photos and details of "The Empty Hearse" lies episode 2, "The Sign of Three!" There's a big wedding on the horizon, and we've got the first synopsis of 'Sherlock' season 3's second episode!

We'll tread lightly around the spoilers as we can, having seen a few early clips of the episode from Comic-Con 2013, but suffice to say "The Sign of Three" will see Sherlock in unknown territory as his social skills are pushed to the brink. Beware of spoilers for the January 5 installment, and check out what new dangers Sherlock and Watson will face in "The Sign of Three":

In episode two of this new series, Sherlock faces his biggest challenge of all - delivering a Best Man's speech on John's wedding day!

But all isn't quite as it seems. Mortal danger stalks the reception - and someone might not make it to the happy couple's first dance. Sherlock must thank the bridesmaids, solve the case and stop a killer!

Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Sherlock Holmes, with Martin Freeman as John Watson, Mark Gatiss as Mycroft, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Amanda Abbington as Mary Morstan and Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper.

Meanwhile, we know of season 3 that Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen (brother to ‘Hannibal”s Mads Mikkelsen) will play the villainous role of “Charles Augustus Magnussen,” a character that likely corresponds to the 1904 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story, “The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton.” The BBC has yet to commission an official ‘Sherlock’ season 4, though reportedly Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have both signed on for the follow-up, in spite of their increasingly busy schedules.

You can check out the 'Sherlock' season 3 trailer once again above, and tell us what you think will befall John and Sherlock over the course of the third series!
