You may remember Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes from the late 90's and early 2000's HBO series Sex & the City - but you may soon know her as a New York State Gubernatorial candidate.

According to NewYorkUpstate.com,  Nixon's name is being mentioned as a possible candidate for New York Governor.

The actress is just one of a handful of Democrats who are considering a 2018 run against current Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Wall Street Journal first reported on Nixon's potential run for the Governor's mansion this past Friday, August 4th.

Although Cynthia Nixon has not made any public statement about her possible candidacy, she is an outspoken activist on state issues - especially issues relating to public education.

Other names mentioned as potential challengers for the Governor's seat include Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and former state Senator Terry Gipson.

Governor Cuomo has yet to announce whether he'll be a part of the 2018 primary.
