If you've played through games such as Shinobi, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Virtua Fighter and Crazy Taxi more times than you can count, Sega has good news for you -- it's turning them into movies!

Sega has announced that, through Stories International, it's hard at work making some of its classic video games, such as the ones listed above, into feature films, television shows and digital series, Polygon reports. There are 40 Sega intellectual properties that the joint venture between Sega and Japanese advertising agency Hakuhodo DY Group controls which include, "the aforementioned game franchises, as well as Streets of Rage and Rise of Nightmares." Evan Cholfin has been named head of development and production for all of the games' adaptations to TV.

Stories International has said that it's, "looking to partner with major studios, A-list producers and filmmakers to adapt," all of the previously mentioned games. Currently, Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a TV make over as it is looking at an animated series, Sonic Boom. This isn't Sega's first foray onto the TV screen as its, "The House of Dead franchise was previously adapted for a Uwe Boll-directed feature in 2003."

With all these games being adapted, you can get ready to take a break from your computer monitor for a while and dust off your TV screen in preparation of some serious use.
