Bad times often bring out the best in people. Turkeys meant for Veteran's Thanksgiving meals were stolen from the Remsen Depot. Bruce Phelps went to pick them up but they were gone. He had a message for the thief that he posted on Facebook. "Thank you for stealing a Veteran's Thanksgiving dinner. I hope you choke on it."

After posting the theft, Bruce received offers to replace the meals.

One person offered to supply the main dish. "I have a turkey in the freezer and it's yours if you want it." While another offered dessert. "If you need a homemade pie I have an extra one, almost as good as my mom's."

To avoid future thefts, Peter Bolos donated security. "Big Apple Music will donate a camera surveillance system for the depot."

Thanks to the kindness of others veterans won't go hungry this Thanksgiving. "We would like everyone, now we have things under control and we have a replacement," Phelps posted on Facebook.
