Outdoor enthusiasts - This one is for you! Schodack Island State Park has recently added some upgrades including a new campground.

Schodack Island State Park is located just south of Albany, on the shores of the Hudson River. The park has been opened since 2002, but just recently had some major renovations done to fulfill the whole 'camping' experience. According to the New York State Parks Press Release,

The 67-site campground is serviced by two new bathroom/shower buildings.
...New trail connections link the campground to the existing 8-mile multi-use trail network on both the Hudson River and Schodack Creek sides of the island.

All these changes are now being offered at the state park. Not only that, but the park has extended their hours as well, staying open until December 5th. Some of the other features they offer include boat launches, nature trails, playgrounds, and areas for grilling.

It's sure to be a busy year for camping in New York, and especially at Schodack Island State Park with all their new features. If you're interested in camping out at the park, prices are pretty cheap - from $15 - $27 a night (depending on if you have electrical equipment and where your site is located in the park). You can get more information and reserve a spot here.

And if you do stay at the park (or even come for a visit), make sure you check out the Bird Conversation Area. Rumor has it, you may spot a few Bald Eagles there.
