Saranac Rolls Out Octoberfest

'Tis the season for seasonal beers (pun intended) ahead of the season! Yes, Octoberfest beers are making their way onto store shelves, and now Saranac Octoberfest, from the F.X. Matt Brewery has arrived. This style of beer is one of my favorites - a bit more malty and less hoppy than other brews. Here's a closer look.

In my opinion, Saranac Octoberfest is slightly different than some other brews in this style. First, Saranac's fall brew is more balanced; not quite as malty sweet as some yet not overly hopped. And, when you give it a sniff in the glass, it has a pleasant mellow hop aroma, as in a well-aged fine German lager.
