As a former tour guide at the F. X. Matt Brewing Company, I always look forward to "what's brewing" at the home of Saranac. I just learned that the fourth annual local "Saranac Hop Harvest" will take place on Sunday, August 24th in Bridgewater. Check out what it's all about.

According to the F.X. Matt Brewery,

"On Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 1-5PM we’re inviting our friends of Saranac to help us harvest the hops at Wrobel Farms. When we’re done picking, our brewers will prepare the hops for brewing, and you’ll stay at the Farm and hang with us as Fred cooks some hot dogs on the grill. Of course we’ll toast to a job well done with some cold Saranac, too!

If you want to be part of our Saranac Hop Harvest, and say you helped brew a locally hopped Saranac Beer, be ready to get your hands dirty, and click saranac.com.

Currently owned by Jim Wrobel of Wrobel Farms, this farm, which is right outside of Utica, in Bridgewater, NY, is equipped with an original hop kiln, and is blooming with hops!

It has always been our goal to brew beer using as many local ingredients as possible. With these hops grown less than 20 miles from the Brewery, we’re going to be able to continue to support another local business while brewing our beer."
