There has been eight salmonella or listeria dog food recalls in the last 24 days. One recall involves Steve's Real Food's Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe. This one went to 21 states including Upstate New York.

The recall hit stores in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse after the brand was found by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture were found when testing a retail sold sample.

I think maybe dog owners should start cooking for their pets as they do for themselves. Dogs with Salmonella can suffer from vomiting, regular diarrhea. Even if a dog suffers lesser symptoms - fever, decreased appetite - the dog can be a salmonella carrier to other pets or to humans.

If you have this food you should toss it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
