The former General Electric Plant Building located at 1900 Bleecker Street in Utica has been sold.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri says the sale of the building to Bowers Development of East Syracuse has been completed.

The Utica Industrial Development Agency approved the sale of the building, as well as the adjacent vacant lot for $400,000.  The building has been vacant for over a decade.

Bowers plans to demolish the building and construct a new facility.

Earlier this year, the City secured a $2 million grant through Empire State Development for redevelopment of the property.

Bowers Development has purchased several other properties in Utica, including the New Century Building on Genesee Street and the Security Building on Bleecker Street.

"I thank Bowers Development for their vision, investment and belief in Utica" said Palmieri.  "Attracting national, regional and local developers to our community is resulting in tremendous progress and I am excited for Utica's future."
