No need to boil drinking water in Rome, the order from the city has been lifted.  Mayor Jacqueline Izzo told the Rome Sentinel that the samplings of city's water from Thursday were negative.  Samples taken earlier in the week contained E. coli, so the boil water order was put into effect.

By the time the order was lifted, Rome's grocery stores were running low on bottled water, as you can see in the photo taken at Price Chopper on Black River Boulevard.  The issue began when a transmission line that sends water from the city's filtration plant to customers was damaged.  The line has been repaired.
