Interested in being a member of the Rome City Police Department?  They are currently looking for men and women of color to join them.

In order to apply, you must take the civil service exam.  Speaking fluent Spanish would also be a plus.

Sgt. David Collins told the Rome Sentinel that they are looking to be reflective of the community they serve.  Collins is the first black officer in Rome to be promoted beyond patrolman.  He added that the department has a great family-type environment.

The next civil service exam will be held in the fall.  Those with top scores will be invited to take a physical agility test.

The annual starting salary for an officer on Rome is $42,000.  If you'd like more information on joining the Rome PD, their website is www.romepd.com
