Just two days before his death, Ebert published what would be his last column, “A Leave of Presence” in which he talked about the return of the cancer that had robbed him of his voice and portions of his jaw late in his life.
Ebert was 70 and was the film critic of the Chicago Sun-Times. He was the longtime host of At the Movies and is survived by his wife, Chaz.
