The news of actor and comedian Robin Williams' death has shocked fans all over the world. According to a report in the New York Times, the 63-year-old star apparently killed himself.

Williams died in his home in Marin County, Calif., earlier today, after police responded to a call at the actor's home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Over a career that spanned more than 35 years, Williams first broke out on the hit TV show 'Mork & Mindy' in 1978 before becoming one of the most popular big-screen stars of the '80s and '90s. Williams appeared in such classic movies as 'Good Will Hunting' (for which he won an Oscar) and "Dead Poets Society.'
