Ringo Starr Still Seeking Peace for His Birthday
For years, Ringo Starr has been dedicated to “peace and love,” and the sentiment still holds true today.
The Beatles drummer decided to use his birthday as a platform to once again drive the message home. NME reports that during his 72nd birthday event in Nashville, hundreds of fans met up with Starr at the Hard Rock Café in order to provide a mass gesture with everyone holding two fingers in the air and shouting “peace and love.”
Starr didn’t stop with the Nashville event, urging fans via his website to do the same thing at 12:00 in their time zones. He explained, “Wherever you are – on a bus, in the office, in the studio, hanging out … whatever you’re doing at noon, just go ‘Peace and Love.’ That’s all I ask for my birthday – peace and love.”
In addition to the mass gesture, Starr was joined by friends and peers like Toto guitarist Steve Lukather and Eagles great Joe Walsh, who led the crowd in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and the chorus of ‘Give Peace a Chance.’
