Reward Offered For Arrest Of Men Who Killed Pitbull

A $1,000 reward is now offered for information leading to the arrest of the two men Frankfort Police believe are responsible for the death of a Pitbull.

Police are asking for help in locating two men, one with a full beard, driving a black or dark blue two-door Dodge pickup truck near an old landfill on Southside Road in Frankfort on Saturday, February 16, 2019. A dog, who police say died from malnutrition and animal fighting, was found dead in a crate. The three or four-year-old black pit bull was heavily scarred, had a full tail and cropped ears.

WKTV reports The "Cuse Pit Crew" a group that advocates for pit bulls and other misunderstood breeds are offering a $1000.00 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Animal Control Officer, Stephanie Berowski told us that Officer Johnson received a tip about a dog in the pull-off area on Southside Road in Frankfort across from the old landfill. When she arrived on the scene, she found the male dog dead in a crate placed near a fence out of the way. She feels the dog died in the crate and not put into the crate dead due to the position she found him in.

The scene was dreadful. The dog was attempting to get out of the crate. There was a blanket of some sort inside that was completely shredded. Berowski said a bowl was also in the crate "if there was water in it and it spilled that would have turned to ice making it even worse for the dog."

Berowski says the pit bull was definitely used for fighting."He was abused. He had a lot of marks on him, fighting marks, bite marks, fresh ones, old ones, he definitely suffered. His injuries are consistent with dog-fighting. It's a horribly painful experience for the dog that often ends in death."

The men in question spotted Berowski working the scene and took off. She attempted to get their plate number by going after them in her vehicle, but they sped off.
