Carrol O’Connor was born on this day in 1924.  He turned the outspoken and narrow-minded Archie Bunker into one of TV’s greatest characters.  ‘All in the Family’ ran from 1968 to 1979 and is still in re-runs. The sitcom also starred Jean Stapleton, who played Archie’s wife Edith, Sally Struthers, who played his daughter Gloria and Rob Reiner, Gloria’s boyfriend, who Archie referred to as ‘Meathead.’

Archie Bunker was a one of a kind character that probably wouldn’t get away with some of the things said on television today. As we remember O’Connor, we’re taking a look back at his best moments.
