Remember The Syracuse Heart Of New York Commercial From 1987?
Let’s take a trip back to 1987. Spuds MacKenzie made his first appearance in Bud Light commercials, Shelly Long quit Cheers, and “Here I Go Again” from Whitesnake was blasting on your radio. Locally do you remember this ad calling Syracuse the heart of New York?
This commercial must have ran long before the ad campaign of “Oneida County, the heart of Central New York”.
So why would Syracuse be considered the heart of New York? I guess it’s pretty centered on the state map, it’s almost in the center of the state thruway, and the Great New York State Fair is held in Syracuse. I guess it would still be considered the heart of NY today.
Even though you’ve lived in Central New York your whole life do you truly know what a “Herkimer Diamond” is? Take a history lesson with this classic commercial from 1998.
