Do you know the reason these Coca-Cola trays are the most common in CNY?

This week in Relics of CNY, Don and Nancy Hartman owners of The Potting Shed Antiques in Whitesboro tell us about the local connection to Coca-Cola.

Today there getting harder to find, and the condition is not always as good as we want

There's a reason why these two particular Coca-Cola trays are the most common in the area. The 'Yellow Dress Girl' is from 1938 and 'Menu Girl' is from 1952, and both were part of an advertising campaign in Oneida County. Coca-Cola would send representatives to every home and hand out these trays for free as a form of publicity in 1938 and again in 1952.

Don says at one time prices were quite high for these, and it was easy to pick up a '38 throw it on e-bay and make some decent money because every household in the area had one. 'Today they are getting harder to find, and the condition is not always as good as we want.'
