This week in Relics of CNY, Don Hartman owner of The Potting Shed Antiques in Whitesboro lets us take a close look at this hand painted print of Trenton High Falls by Currier and Ives.

Currier and Ives was a company that made prints and lithographs. One of the best-known artists in New York State was Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, who painted a lot of the Adirondack scenes that you can find at the Blue Mountain Museum. Don isn't sure who the artist is of this particular colored print, but Currier and Ives came through the area around the 1860's.

Most Currier and Ives collectors think this print is from Trenton New Jersey, but locals know it's a picture of our Trenton Falls. Years ago the colored print would have sold for about $250.00, but today it would sell for $150.00.
