Eye Witness News Chief Metrologist Rachael Witter, along with more than 100 female meteorologists put 'the dress' back on to encourage women to consider a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Female meteorologists all across the country wore the now familiar dress to encourage women to consider a career in STEM. Women are severely underrepresented in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM fields).

The dress was a topic of conversation in the female broadcast meteorologist Facebook group. It was quite a find for only $23.00 from Amazon and hard to pass up as the shape and colors are flattering on everyone. So now that all the ladies have the dress they decided to use it as a platform to inspire women to consider a career in STEM.

Rachael says "Since so many of us ended up with the dress, and it was already an internet sensation, we wanted to use it as a platform...we've been planning on wearing it on Pi day for a few months now. We thought 3-14 would be appropriate since it's a math-y day. We used it as a way to promote and inspire women in STEM (science, math, technology, and engineering) fields. Kind of a "women are more than their clothes" type deal. We hope to have raised awareness that women end up making up a very small percentage of employees in those fields...and we want that to grow! The biggest problem nowadays is that young girls may be "embarrassed" to like math and science, and we wanted to prove that it's ok...math and science are cool, and we're living that everyday! There were over 100 of us that wore the same dress yesterday. Such a cool way to bring us all together for a great cause."
