Good news for people who were hoping to watch movies from their PlayStation 4 with 3D glasses on.

CVG reports that the PlayStation 4 will finally be able to play 3D Blu-rays. Furthermore, the sound quality has been increased when playing movies and videos at 1.5x speed. This will be awesome for those of you who like to fast forward through dialogue until all the explosions and gunfire happens (insert Michael Bay joke here). The system upgrade that brings these features should automatically install the next time you turn on your PS4.

Shuhei Yoshida, the head of SCE Worldwide Studios, said that numerous features are still coming for the PlayStation 4, many of which were originally planned to be on the console when it debuted last year. One of these features is a resume and suspend feature, which is something that the Xbox One already does to an extent. You will be able to keep your console running, in a sleep-like mode, where you can automatically resume your game from the exact place you left off without having the system reboot. Sony was also planning to use Gaikai, which will allow a friend online to take control of your game and continue your gameplay.

The Xbox One will also be able to play 3D Blu-rays with its next system update coming in a few weeks.
