Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde has collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant on a new version of "Let's Get Lost," a track from the recent Pretenders album, Alone.

The Tennant-assisted version of "Let's Get Lost," which you can hear above, serves as the latest single release in support of Alone, which send lead-off single "Holy Commotion" into the Top 5 of Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart last year. The duo's collaboration might come as something of a surprise to casual fans, but it isn't the first time they've worked together.

In 2014, Hynde participated in the Pet Shop Boys' BBC Proms program, contributing vocals to a set list that found her singing a duet with Tennant on a rendition of the Boys' 1987 single "Rent."

Both artists are in the midst of renewed creative activity. Hynde, touring with her current Pretenders lineup, remains on the road as part of a package tour with Stevie Nicks for the next couple of months — and remains committed to the aesthetic of the Pretenders even as she remains the sole original member of the band.

"When I brought these songs back from the studio, my manager was playing them for someone, and the guy said, ‘Wow, it’s great to hear the Pretenders back," she's said of Alone. "And so my manager came to me and said, ‘It really does sound like a Pretenders album.’ And I went, ‘Yeah, doesn’t it?'"

The Pet Shop Boys, meanwhile, ended a three-year break between studio LPs with 2016's Super, which cracked the Top 5 in the U.K. upon its release last April.
