The current political climate in Ukraine is causing issues for non-political events such as rock concerts. The latest to be affected is Peter Gabriel, who cancelled tonight's (May 10) concert on his current 'Back To Front' tour there due to safety concerns.

Gabriel took to his website to explain the situation concerning the cancelled performance.  "Due to the on-going unrest in Ukraine it has become clear that the security of the touring personnel and equipment cannot be guaranteed during the planned visit to the country. Any delays or damage as result of the situation in Ukraine would not be insured and would also potentially jeopardize future shows on the tour, something which we feel we also have to consider. It is our sincere hope that the situation is resolved in a positive and peaceful fashion and we can return to the Ukraine in the not-too-distant future."

As a consolation prize of sorts, plans are being put in place to give anyone who bought tickets for the now-cancelled show a DVD of the 'Back To Front' Tour. Just a couple months back, the Crimson ProjeKCt, also had to cancel a performance there for similar reasons.

"It was due to our desire to do everything possible in order to make the show happen that the decision to cancel the show is now being made at such late notice," the statement continues, "It is our sincere hope that the situation is resolved in a positive and peaceful fashion and we can return to the Ukraine in the not-too-distant future."
