Paul McCartney Supporting Release of Abused Baby Elephant

Paul McCartney continues to use whatever power or leverage his celebrity has brought him for good. The singer’s latest mission is to help in the aid of the release of an abused baby elephant.

The vocalist reached out via letter to Indian Forest Minister Dr. Patangrao Shripatrao Kadam requesting the release of an elephant from captivity. The singer learned of the elephant’s abuse through his association with PETA.

The vocalist stated, “I have seen photographs of young Sunder, the elephant kept alone in a shed at Jyotiba Temple and put in chains with spikes. Years of his life have been ruined by keeping him and abusing him in this way and enough is enough. I most respectfully call on you … to get Sunder out.”

PETA learned that Sunder’s handler was abusing the elephant, and since the news went public the handler has gone on the run from police. One of the more significant injuries is a severe right eye wound where Sunder was stabbed with an ankus (a hooked poker-like weapon).
