While he continues to put the finishing touches on his first solo album of new music since 2007's 'Memory Almost Full,' Paul McCartney is hitting the road for what he's dubbing the 'Out There Tour' -- and although his itinerary is still rather small, he's just added another six dates to the schedule.

The new shows, which go on pre-sale today (April 9) at McCartney's website, will keep McCartney 'out there' for short bursts during May, June, and July -- and although they'll essentially take him around the world, there's still enough room in the schedule to add plenty of performances later on.

McCartney's latest trek extends a streak of annual tours that goes back to 2009, when he broke a four-year road absence by embarking on the 10-date 'Summer Live '09' tour, followed by 'Good Evening Europe' in 2010. Over the last few years, he's beefed up his live appearances considerably, booking a combined 76 shows between the 2010-11 'Up and Coming' tour and its successor, 'On the Run,' in 2011-12.

All in all, "live" seems to be the theme for McCartney this year; toward the end of May, he's expected to release an expanded edition of Wings' 1976 live album, 'Wings Over America.'
