Last Month (August, 2017), the Farmers Almanac released their 2018 winter weather outlook. It predicted a colder, more normal winter here in Upstate New York. Now, the Old Farmers Almanac has released their winter weather forecast for the coming winter season. It is quite a bit different than it's rival Farmers Almanac.

According to New York Upstate, the newly released 2018 edition of the Old Farmers Almanac is forecasting a milder than normal winter with above normal precipitation for Upstate New York. The almanac does however predict the Capital region and Hudson Valley will be snowier than the rest of the state.

According to the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center, A La Nina weather pattern is setting up for this fall and winter season. The chances for a La Nina event is 55-60%. A La Nina winter can greatly affect the seasonal snowfall rate across North America, which of course would affect our weather here in the Northeast and Upstate and Central New York.
