New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has been hit with a one game suspension by the NFL for his unsportsmanlike behavior in Sunday's 38-35 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The sports media world was buzzing Monday with debate over whether the second year superstar deserved a fine or suspension after being hit with three personal fouls during the game. Some argue that Beckham, 23, deserved more than the three flags he was hit with, and maybe should have been ejected during the contest.

After dropping a sure touchdown on the Giants' opening possession, Beckham was involved in several physical altercations after and away from game action with Panthers corner Josh Norman, including one instance where Beckham launched himself at Norman's head with the crown of his helmet.

Beckham made six catches for 76 yards and had the game-tying touchdown grab that capped New York's 28-point rally and tied the game at 35.

The Giants will play at Minnesota on Sunday night needing a win to keep their fading playoff hopes alive.

It has been reported that Beckham will appeal the suspension.
