NYs Grown & Certified Program Launches Today

In an effort to increase food safety, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the launch of 'New York Grown and Certified,' which aims to provide New York residents with 'the safest food on the globe.'

The program will promote any NY farm that participates, and will show consumers that the food they are buying is local and produced at higher standards than food that is imported.

Under the program, words like 'organic' and 'natural' will be tightly defined, and inspectors will investigate chemicals, handling, and antibiotics used in the foods.
