Maybe you haven't noticed it, but it seems like 'Christmas in the Mohawk Valley' is lacking something this year. What's going on?

A House with Holiday Decorations Stands Next to Many House Not Decorated

Christmas is just days away! Isn't that crazy?! It doesn't feel like it, does it? Especially this year - for whatever reason, it seems like the holidays are still a month or so away. What happened? Where did everyone's holiday cheer go?

It wasn't like this last year. Last year the houses were lit up with Christmas lights, you could hear Christmas music everywhere you turned, and there was quite a bit of snow sticking around for a white Christmas.

So what's different this year?

Well for one, a lot of houses are NOT decorated this year. Sure, you'll see some decorated, but this seems to be the worst year for Christmas lights and displays. Whether the holidays came a little too fast this year or most people were just too busy, it seems like most didn't put lights on their house, or put decorations in their yard.

A big reason why the holiday spirit may be lacking this year could be the weather. With no snow on the ground and temperatures warmer than usual, maybe it just doesn't 'feel' like Christmas. Can you believe it? They're calling for temperatures in the 60s on Christmas Eve, and mostly sunny skies on Christmas Day! Hey, we don't have to be cold or shovel any snow, but is it ruining our holiday spirit?
