Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx underwent shoulder surgery yesterday to repair a torn rotator cuff. This is the second major surgery this year for Sixx, who previously underwent a two-hour hip replacement procedure only three months ago.

Posting a couple of post-op photos on Facebook, Sixx wrote, "Rotator and torn bicep fixed. Doctor did a great job," before adding with a play on a Motley Crue favorite, "This is kinda Shout @ the Devil-ish." See the post below:

According to TMZ, Sixx has been in talks with American Idol about joining the judges panel. Producers of the ABC singing competition show want the bassist as the third judge on the rebooted program, which will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest.  Sixx said on social media last month that he was "unofficially retired" from touring. "Money has never been and isn't a driving force for me," he wrote, adding that it was "nice to give 100 percent of my time to my wife and kids."

Despite his unofficial retirement from touring, Sixx is not exactly taking it easy. He currently has two new SIxx:A.M. albums in the works, as well as two books, an adaptation of the Mötley Crüe memoir "The Dirt" for Netflix and a stage version of his own autobiography, "The Heroin Diaries.”  The prolific artist also co-hosts a nationally-syndicated radio show, Sixx Sense.

Sixx toured with Mötley Crüe one last time in 2015, with the band performing a total of 164 shows culminating with a finale show on New Year’s eve in Los Angeles. During a short break in that tour, the bassist underwent double hernia surgery after spending months in pain while on the road.

Over the last few years, he has focused on Sixx: A.M., which initially started as a musical offshoot of his book "The Heroin Diaries" but turned into an actual touring band. Their previous albums, Prayers for the Blessed and Prayers for the Damned, came out in 2016.
