Coming up in March of 2018, a new law for animals will be going into place here in New York. New York state will soon require all animal shelters and rescues to check stray and abandoned animals for microchips.

So here's how the law works according to CNY Central: When stray animals are brought in by animal shelters, and rescues, they will be required to check stray and abandoned animals for microchips. Also, the new law also requires shelters and rescues to make an effort to notify the animal's human companion within 24 hours if they successfully identify the person.

So good news for out pets in 2018. Consider getting a microchip today.
