New York State Fair Looking For Your Involvement
Every year, I look forward going to “The Great New York State Fair” in Syracuse. And this year, they’re making some changes and looking for input from you.
If you’ve been to the Fair, you may have seen the daily parade around the fairgrounds. The Fair committee is looking for ideas from you for its on NYS Fair float in that parade.
According to nysfair.org:
“THE GREAT NEW YORK STATE FAIR HOLDS PUBLIC DESIGN COMPETITION FOR A NEW FAIR FLOAT FOR A RE-ENERGIZED DAILY PARADE
A committee working to add to the New York State Fair’s daily parade is seeking input from the public as it designs a State Fair float to serve as the centerpiece of a reinvigorated event. Designs and ideas for the float are being solicited by the committee, which is being headed up by a member of the State Fair Advisory Board.
Any individual or group is welcome to submit design sketches that represent the Fair.
Sketches received by April 1 will receive consideration. Those involved in creating a winning sketch will receive recognition during the parade along with admission to the Fair and parking passes. Submissions can be sent to email@example.com. More information about the requirements for submissions can be found at www.nysfair.org/contact-us/parade/.
The heart of the 6:00 p.m. parade around Chevy Court is the sound of marching bands. The Fair is reaching out to more school and community marching groups to increase and broaden participation. An application and information for groups interested in marching in the parade can be found at www.nysfair.org/contact-us/entertainment-application/.
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 21 – September 1, 2014. The theme of the 2014 Fair is “Summer’s Best in Show.”
