According to a recent report, there is not a single state in the U.S. where a minimum wage employee working full-time can reasonably afford a one-bedroom apartment at the fair market rent. So how many hours would someone have to work here in New York to afford rent?

Here in New York, someone would have to work 98 plus hours in order to afford rent just on minimum wage. That's even considering here in New York minimum wage is set above the federal limit.

At full-time, a minimum wage worker would have to make at least $15.50 per hour to afford a one-bedroom apartment at the fair market rent. They would have to make $19.35 per hour to afford a two-bedroom unit. This is a stunning statistic if you think about the fact that even the most ardent advocates for a national minimum wage increase have called for a $15 federal minimum wage."

Something that makes you truly think. Is minimum wage too low?
