Bedbugs are disgusting and vile little creatures that devastate hotels, college dorms, and bedrooms everywhere. No one ever wants to find themselves battling these pesky critters. For one Long Island man battling these little pests went to a whole new level.

According to The New York Post,

Police say a Long Island man set his rental car ablaze while trying to kill bedbugs inside the vehicle. Scott Kemery suffered first- and second-degree burns in the incident Tuesday outside an Eastport supermarket. Police say the Bridgehampton resident poured alcohol over the insects, then sat in the car and lit a cigarette, setting off the blaze.

So where in the world did this man get the idea to use alcohol to try and kill the bugs? Someone told him that would work. If someone asked you to set a bridge on fire would you? I can understand the man's desire to get rid of the critters, especially given that this was a rental vehicle, but to set the car on fire? That's a little crazy. There were two other cars damaged in the blaze.

Here is a video of the aftermath:

One thing is definitely for sure...at least there are no more bedbugs in the vehicle!
