New York Jets Owner Keeps Promise to Pay Employees Money Lost from NFL Lockout
The New York Jets, known for their bravado and bold decision-making, are backing up offseason predictions.
This time, they didn’t even need a field to do it.
With Monday’s announcement by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that “Football is back,” Jets owner Woody Johnson is following through with a promise he made to the organization: employees will recoup wages lost during the lockout, so long as no games are missed.
The New York Daily News reports that in March, the club told 96 business-related employees they were required to take one week of unpaid vacation per month until a new collective bargaining agreement was reached.
The Jets are expected to report to camp Sunday, following news the NFL and its players have agreed to a new 10-year labor deal to end the five-month long lockout.
