Today is World AIDS Day and Mohawk Valley Community College is hosting sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

The 54-ton handmade tapestry stands as a memorial to the more than 94,000 people who have died of AIDS.

Tamara Mariotti, Coordinator of Accessibility Resources at MVCC, says the panels on campus include the names of two local individuals who died of AIDS.

The panels will be on display today through Tuesday in the lobby of Payne Hall on the Utica Campus.

The quilt is being hosted by MVCC's LGBTQ Committee.
