Get ready to get down and dirty, all for a good cause. The Daniel Barden Mudfest is coming to MKJ Farm in Deansboro on April 29th.

The Mudfest is named after Daniel Barden. Daniel was was one of the first graders tragically killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting back in 2012. This event is held in Central New York because of local ties. The niece of the organizers lives next door to Daniel’s family. Mudfest's main goal is to keep the spirit of Daniel alive and to continue to grow in us all.

People are drawn to this race because you will push yourself in ways you never dreamed, and then revel in the friendship, conversation, and music that follows.

This event is divided into several different runs, and of course plenty of mud. The runs include a 5 mile timed run, 5K un-timed run, and Kids run. Each event has different race times to register for. All proceeds from this event are donated back to several charities. The charities are actually chosen by 8th grade students who apply for the Adventure Scholarship. This scholarship is a unique one. It takes place in the Adirondacks with students from the Central New York and the Sandy Hook region.
